2016 Girls’ State HS Hockey Tournament Day 4: Class A and Class AA championships

Championship Saturday arrived for the girls’ state high school hockey tournament, and it did not disappoint. There were hat tricks – yes, plural – and an overtime game. Hardware was handed out, sticks and gloves were tossed in celebration and with it all, the girls’ hockey season came to a close. Here are the results from day four of the state tournament.

Prepping to play goal: an ersatz goalie's guide

It’s Monday, and we’re between September and March, which means beer league. It starts on Monday morning with an email from the team captain, Merks (nickname), telling us what time the game is, and asking us to sound off on who is in and who is out. That also gets the trash talk and ball-busting going between the guys. It’s easily the best email that I receive on Monday mornings.
