Iowa Wild Report

Since the Wild have had their AHL (American Hockey League) affiliation in Des Moines, Iowa, they have not provided the fans with very good teams.

This year, they brought in head coach Derek Lalonde and assistant David Cunniff to work with some real talent in an attempt to win more games.

To this point, it hasn't happened. Through Saturday night - when they lost 5-0 to the Chicago Wolves - the Iowa Wild are 6-10-1, good for 13 points. Their winning percentage ranks 27th of the 30 teams in the league. Their 13 points are tied for 22nd.

There has been a lot of movement up and down I35 as players have been moved up and down. Tyler Graovac and Christoph Bertschy have each been up a couple of times.

Steve Michalek has been the team's top goalie and done a nice job. He has played in 12 games and accounted for the goal for about 640 minutes. He has given up 35 goals for a 3.28 goals/game average. However, the 397 shots against him is tops in the league. He is 4-5 and has a very solid 91.2% save percentage.

Alex Stalock has played in eight games. He has played about 371 minutes. He has given up 25 goals for a goals against average of 4.04. He is 2-5 and holds an 87.2% save percentage.

The Iowa Wild have not been a big scoring team. A lot of players have scored, yet no one has more than 10 points.

Jordan Schroeder and rookie Alex Tuch lead the way with four goals and ten points each. There are 66 players in the league that have more than ten points, an average of over two per team.

Gustav Olofsson has two goals to go with a team-hit seven assists for nine total points. Pat Cannone has two goals and six assists for eight point. Teemu Pulkkinen also has eight points (3 goals, 5 assists). However, he has done it in just nine games to Cannone's 17 games.

Mike Reilly, Colton Beck and rookie Mario Lucia each have seven points. Of that group, Lucia leads the way with three goals.

Reilly has played in just seven games as he has moved up and down from Minnesota to Iowa a couple of times too. He leads the way with 1.00 points per game. Pulkkinen's 0.89 points per game is second on the team. Jordan Schroeder is third in the category at 0.71.
