Minnesota Wild Minor League Update: 3/30/16

Friday March 25
Chicago 3, at Iowa 2

Christian Folin scored a power play goal halfway through the third period to give the Wild a 2-1 lead over the Wolves. However, Hubert Labrie and Andre Benoit both scored for the Wolves in the final half of the period to give them a 3-2 win. Steve Michalek made 26 saves in the loss for Iowa.

Saturday March 26
Chicago 2, at Iowa 1

In a game which featured 42 penalty minutes, Iowa dominated the Wolves from start to finish but could not come away with the victory. Evan Trupp scored late in the first period and Bryce Gervais scored early in the second to put Chicago ahead 2-0, despite being massively outshot. Iowa was not able to trim the lead to one until 1:35 remaining in the game, and they could not score the equalizer. Iowa outshot Chicago 46-16, including 16-2 in the third period.

-Iowa signed Vancouver (WHL) F Chase Lang to an ATO.

Quad City Mallards (ECHL)

Overall record: 33-26-6 (3rd in Midwest Division)

Friday March 25
at Quad City 3, Evansville 2

A power play goal with 54 seconds left in the first followed by a goal 1:37 into the second period put the Mallards up 2-0 on the IceMen. Evansville was able to cut the lead to 2-1,, but an empty net goal from Olivier Archambault sealed the win for Quad City.

Saturday March 26
Quad City 4, at Wichita 1

Three points from Olivier Archambault (two goals, one assist) and two points (one goal, one assist) from Mike Monfredo paced the four goal attack for Quad City on Saturday night. Brody Hoffman made 44 saves to pick up his 16th win of the season.

Tuesday March 29
at Wichita 1, Quad City 0

Landon Oslanski scored with 6:25 to play in the first for Wichita, and that was all she wrote for the scoring in this one. Brody Hoffman made 29 saves for the Mallards, but was outdone by his counterpart David Shantz, who stopped all 37 shots for Wichita.
