Minnesota Wild Minor League Update: 4/7/16

In the last week, Mario Lucia made his long awaited Iowa debut, as Iowa looks to finish the season strong after a slow start. Meanwhile, Quad City continues to try and track down a playoff spot, as they are starting to put a nice run together. Find out how everyone did in this week's minor league update!

Wednesday March 30
Manitoba 3, at Iowa 2

Iowa was facing two different two goal deficits in this game, and saw both comeback efforts thwarted by the Moose. Brenden Kichton, Darik Angeli, and Austen Brassard each registered a pair of points for Manitoba. Mario Lucia did not register a point or a shot on goal in his Iowa debut.

Friday April 1
at Iowa 4, Manitoba 2

The Moose scored 18 seconds into the game, but for the next 39:42 of the hockey game, Iowa was able to scored three straight goals to give them a 3-1 lead headed to the intermission. Manitoba cut the lead to 3-2 27 seconds into the third, but Iowa was able to hold off the Moose and add an empty net goal to seal the win. Mario Lucia registered a pair of assists in the second period for his first points with Iowa.

Saturday April 2
Iowa 4, at Rockford 3 (OT)

It was a back and forth affair throughout the first two periods, as both teams exchanged leads in this one. The game was tied at three to begin the third, and after no one was able to score, it went to overtime. Tyson Strachan scored 2:26 into the overtime session to give the Wild their second straight victory. 10 different Wild players had at least a point in this game.

News and Notes

-F Brady Brassart was reassigned to Quad City on March 31.
-D Christian Folin and F Zac Dalpe were recalled by Minnesota on April 4.
-D Mike Reilly was returned to Iowa by Minnesota on April 5.
-D Hunter Warner was signed to an ATO on April 6.
-Conor Allen sees a big opportunity with the Wild, writes Tom Witosky.

Quad City Mallards (ECHL)

Overall record: 36-28-6 (3rd in Midwest Division)

Wednesday March 30
at Missouri 5, Quad City 2

Missouri was up 3-0 in the second period before the Mallards answered. However their answer was short lived, as the Mavericks scored two more times for good measure. F Scott Howes had three assists for Missouri.

Friday April 1
at Quad City 5, Tulsa 3

Despite being outshot 40-24, the Mallards were able to turn five of those 24 shots into goals against Tulsa. Sam Warning had two goals and an assist, while Olivier Archambault added a goal and an assist to lead Quad City offensively. Brody Hoffman was able to turn away 37 shots to pick up the win.

Sunday April 3
at Quad City 4, Indy 2

After the Fuel struck first 1:07 into the game, Quad City scored four out of the next five goals to pick up another victory. Jared Knight had a pair of goals, and Sam Warning continued his hot streak with another goal in this game. Brody Hoffman stopped 36 shots to earn his second consecutive win.

Wednesday April 6
Quad City 4, at Fort Wayne 1

Three third period goals for the Mallards broke a 1-1 tie, and put them on the cusp of a playoff spot. Matt Neal lead Quad City with a goal and two assists, while Tanner Eberle and Alex Gudbranson each had a pair of points. PJ Musico made 25 saves, to pick up the win.

News and Notes

-Quad City's magic number to clinch a playoff spot is 1.
-D Richard Nedomlel was reassigned by the St. Louis Blues to Chicago (AHL) on April 1. He was returned to Quad City on April 3.
-F Raphael Bussieres has missed the past 13 games with an upper body injury.
