Day two of the Girls state hockey tournament took place yesterday in the Twin Cities. The Class AA bracket got under way at the X, while Class A had their consolation semifinals at Ridder Arena. Here are yesterday's results.#2 Eden Prairie 4, Forest Lake 2

A goal late in the second period by Kaitlyn VanTassel knotted the score at two for Forest Lake. A solid performance in goal from Kaylee Remington kept the score close, allowing the Rangers to tie it up before the intermission. But it was only a matter of time in the third before the Eagles scored the go ahead goal, and they did 6:42 into the third frame. 74 seconds later Eden Prairie scored again, and they managed to hold on for a 4-2 win.

Eden Prairie will play in the semifinals tonight at 6 PM, while Forest Lake will play in the consolation semifinals at 10 AM this morning.

#3 Edina 1, Eastview 0

The play was highly favoring Edina in this one, but Eastview was able to keep them off the scoreboard thanks to some terrific goaltending from Emma Tschida. However much like the first game, it was just a matter of time before Edina got on the board, and at the 7:44 mark of the third period, defenseman Emily Oden (a University of Minnesota recruit) fired the lone shot past Tschida. Edina was able to hold on for the 1-0 win.

The Hornets will play Eden Prairie in the semifinals tonight at 6 PM. Eastview will play Forest Lake in the consolation bracket at 10 AM.

#1 Hill-Murray 5, Sartell/Sauk Rapids 0

The top seeded Pioneers needed nearly the whole first period before getting on the board, but they scored twice in the final two minutes of the period to give them a 2-0 lead. In the most lopsided game of the day, the Pioneers added three more goals while outshooting Sartell/Sauk Rapids 50-9 over the course of the game.

Hill-Murray advances to the semifinals at 8 PM tonight, while Sartell/Sauk Rapids will play in the consolation bracket at 12 PM today.

#4 Maple Grove 4, Lakeville South 1

Final score read 4-1, but for two periods this was a tightly contested game. The teams traded goals in the first period, and went into the second intermission with the same score, but Maple Grove came out in the third and played with a much stronger purpose. A hat trick from Lauren Kaufman propelled the Crimson into the semi finals for a matchup with the top seeded Pioneers.

Maple Grove will play Hill-Murray at 8 PM tonight. Lakeville South will play Sartell/Sauk Rapids at 12 PM today at Ridder Arena.
